This webinar will introduce the classification of molds using macroscopic and microscopic characteristics.

OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to:

Explain the classification and identification of molds based upon their macroscopic and microscopic characteristics
Identify whether molds have aleuriosporic, enteroblastic or holoblastic conidiogenous cells
Describe diseases caused by molds including hyalohyphomycosis, phaeohyphomycosis, chromoblastomycosis and mucormycosis

AUDIENCE

This 8 part basic-level webinar series is intended for laboratory professionals who are not experienced in the identification of medically important molds. Others interested in attending may include clinical laboratory microbiologists, medical technologists, infectious disease physicians, and pathologists.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

The Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E.® Program. P.A.C.E.® is accepted by all licensure states except Florida. This webinar will provide 1.5 contact hour for participants who successfully complete this training until April 17, 2024. After this date, you can no longer obtain P.A.C.E.® for this webinar.
