DESCRIPTION

Integrated testing offers an important opportunity in public health to increase testing coverage, identify incident infections and minimize delays in linkage to care. Integrated testing for pathogens that commonly co-occur is of particular importance among select high risk populations. This webinar will focus on the considerations for implementing and utilizing integrated testing for HIV, viral hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections. We will hear from laboratory professionals in three local public health laboratories. Speakers will provide an overview of what integrated testing looks like in their laboratories, the benefits and challenges of implementing these services and lessons learned.

OBJECTIVES

After completing this webinar the participant will be able to:

Describe how various public health laboratories have implemented and utilized integrated testing
Identify common challenges and considerations to implementing integrated testing
Discuss the public health benefits of integrated testing among certain populations

AUDIENCE

This program is intended for public health and clinical laboratory staff, epidemiologists, health department staff and other public health workers.

The Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E.® Program, Florida and CPH-recertification.
