DESCRIPTION

Endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are exogenous chemicals that interfere with hormone action. This webinar will provide an overview of environmental EDCs and human health endpoints illustrated using examples from epidemiology studies. The importance of, and methods to ensure, accurate hormone testing will be presented as an adjunct to environmental monitoring.

OBJECTIVES

After completing this webinar the participant will be able to:

Discuss the nature of environmental contaminants on human health and endocrine metabolism
Describe formative events in the endocrine disruption hypothesis
Describe the role of the Partnership for the Accurate Testing of Hormones (PATH) in standardizing accurate hormone testing in clinical and public health laboratories
